This Year’s Buying Guide

When looking for a good modular motorcycle helmet, the options you have are either browsing through countless modular motorcycle helmets reviews, or you can guide your search according to the advice carefully researched and presented in our buying guide.

If you’re in the market for the right motorcycle accessories and you’re not sure where to start looking, perhaps you might consider checking out some related articles on our website, for example, the ones on a getting a great motorcycle leather jacket or reliable motorcycle winter gloves.

Materials and construction

Given that this is a piece of equipment designed to keep you safe in case of an accident, an essential aspect of choosing the right model for your needs is considering the type of danger that you will be exposed to.

Once you join traffic, there’s no safe ground, so it’s best to know that you are being protected at all times. Look for manufacturers that go out of their way to make sure that the technology that they use is effective in preventing tragedies.

Most, if not all models, are generally made using advanced polycarbonate shell in combination with flexible materials that allow them to be comfortable to wear. Other helmets offer  mesh or fabric to allow the air to circulate freely and plastic screens to protect the eyesight.

When choosing the right design, you need to make sure that the shape of the shell fits your body and is also optimized to offer as much protection as possible. Look for materials that have increased impact energy displacement, but keep in mind that the helmet should be lightweight, as well.

Choosing a product that’s too heavy for you to carry won’t only be a pain whenever you’re not on your motorcycle and need to store it in your backpack or maybe even transport it manually, but also while riding, too.

A helmet that’s too heavy can result in fatigue and thus make the entire thrill of a motorcycle ride less and less enjoyable.

Comfort and the relationship with the environment

The role of such a piece of gear should not solely be to protect oneself, but also to offer an improved version of the environmental conditions that the rider is given. This way, moto equipment shouldn’t make you feel worse and less comfortable than you would if you weren’t wearing it.

For example, some modular helmets use different types of fabric to make sure that the air circulates freely on the inside. This aspect doesn’t only help to prevent the rider from heating excessively, but it also keeps the temperature within reasonable standards and helps dry out the humidity that might ensue.

It’s even more helpful if you manage to find the items that work just as well in cold weather as they would in hot weather. Keeping you fresh on a bright, sunny day is just as essential as keeping you warm when the weather is chilly.

Vision

When you’re on the road, managing to preserve the quality of the image that you see through the helmet’s screen is one of the aspects most likely to reduce your chance of being part of an accident.

This way, we can recommend that you carefully check the description file from the manufacturer when it comes to the optical qualities of the model that you’re thinking of buying.

For example, it would be a great idea to get your hands on a design that has a retractable sun-shield that’s also covered in a fog-proof layer, since this type of solution covers multiple environmental issues simultaneously.

Other aspects

Once you’ve got your eye set on a product that seems to fit your needs, you need to go in depth and think about the small details, like maintenance, for instance. To be able to keep the interior layer clean without too much effort, it helps if the liner is detachable.

Finding a cheap modular motorcycle helmet is not necessarily about finding the item with the lowest price range, but more about finding the one that can accurately respond to as many of these requirements as possible.

If you’re generally interested in this issue and you want to know more about motorcycle gear and equipment, we can recommend some of the related articles on our website, such as the ones on great vintage motorcycle helmets or reliable noise-canceling earbuds.

It would be helpful to know the weight of each helmet, say in a medium size. No one wants a heavy helmet. Not one of the above-described helmets addresses weight….other than the vague reference to “ light” or “ lightweight”, which is far from helpful. I wear an xlarge and am looking for a modular helmet which isn’t going to feel like a clunker on my head down the road.
Also, I’ve noticed in other helmet descriptions, advertisers who do list weight, typically refer to a small size. Really selling that many small sizes guys ?
